Charlie Bernhaut's entry into the real estate industry began in 1964 when he created and directed the market research department of Supermarket General Corporation (Pathmark). His key position called upon him to closely study the urban geography of the entire metropolitan area and understand the area's demographic and competitive make-up. This allowed Charlie to successfully carve a niche for himself and commence consulting work in 1979 for various supermarket chains and shopping center developers.

A Rutgers University graduate with a B.A. majoring in Philosophy (1960) and Law (1962), Charlie has been a frequent lecturer on the subjects of retailing and site location research at Rutgers Graduate School of Business, Seton Hall University and other venues. He is excited about the opportunity to help develop Blau & Berg's retail/commercial department and expects to mine the industry's retail potential.
